Prayer for those about to travel by Land

O Lord Jesus Christ our God, the true and living way, who journeyed with Your foster father Joseph and Your all-immaculate Virgin Mother into Egypt, and accompanied Luke and Cleopas to Emmaus: We humbly pray to You , O all-holy Master, by the grace to accompany now, Your servant (name). And send unto them as unto Your servant Tobias, a Guardian Angel, guiding, preserving, and delivering them from every evil assaults of enemies, both visible and invisible; and directing them unto the fulfilment of Your commandments; and preserving them in peace, happiness and health; and bringing them back in safety and tranquillity. And grant that they may fulfil all their good intensions unto the good pleasure, favourably and to Your glory. For You it is to show mercy, and to save us, and unto You we ascribe glory; together with Your Father who is from everlasting, and Your All-Holy, and good and life-giving Spirit; now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.  May the Lord bless You out of Zion; and so shall You behold the good things of Jerusalem all the days of Your life; and may He direct Your journey in peace, unto the glory of His Holy Name.  Amen.

Through the prayers of our Holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy upon us and save us.  Amen.

Prayer for those about to Travel by Sea or Air

O Master, Lord Jesus Christ our God, who walked upon dry land, and deigned to have Your holy Disciples and Apostles as the fellow voyagers in the ship; and rebuked the stormy wind, and commanded the waves of the sea to be still: Be pleased now also, we humbly pray You O Saviour, to sail with this Your servant in their ship, allaying every unfavourable wind and tempest: And raised up special and timely winds for a successful voyage, being Yourself ever unto them a pilot, and saving, an untempestuous and tranquil haven unto them and their ship. And as You saved Peter from drowning, so also in sovereign wise, deliver Your servant from all assaults of enemies, both visible and invisible, and from calamity and distress, and fear by Your Right Hand omnipotent; And graciously vouchsafe that they may return to their purpose and enterprise. Do richly bestow Your inexhaustible grace upon their deeds, and preserve the ship whole and unharmed. For You are the Saviour, and the Deliverer, and the rich Giver of all good things, both spiritual and temporal, and unto You we ascribe glory: to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; now and ever and unto ages of ages.  Amen.
